Bristol meets Darjeeling

On Friday 8th April our Darjeeling-based Trustee Major Wangdi and his wife Nima entertained a Bristol audience, while on a rare visit to the UK. They told tales of their upbringing, careers and lives in Darjeeling, as well as explaining their work for the Trust on the ground. Fuelled by Darjeeling tea and plentiful cakes, we heard about the creation of the Trust back in 2007, the difficulties of building a house in an earthquake zone, and the challenge of making sure 68 sponsored children all have shoes that fit. The Major and Nima were able to testify first-hand to the difference that sponsorship and vocational training has made to the young people whose support they oversee, and told us some great stories of children whose prospects have been transformed by training and education. Thanks to everyone who came along and gave generously to help us raise £400 for a fantastic cause.
